This course explores the fundamental principles that govern the transformation of simple ingredients into delectable treats. Combining the artistry of baking with the precision of chemistry to explore the chemical reactions, transformations, and interactions that occur during the baking process. During this class, we will investigate a wide range of topics, including the composition and functionality of ingredients such as flour, sugar, fats, leavening agents, and additives. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the role of each ingredient in influencing the texture, flavor, color, and overall quality of baked goods. In doing so, you will learn to troubleshoot common baking challenges and perfect your baking techniques.
